You Fell For It Award!! — release + web liner :)
after hours in the studio and days worth of mixing, “You Fell For It Award!!” Is out. i hope you guys are enjoying it and listening (you can find links to streaming, and even free downloads for you to make any physical copies you want, on our audio page). this double single/ep—what have you—holds the honor of many firsts for us, so i wanted to touch on some of those and the amazing people (who weren’t us) who helped make it all happen. first though, i’d like to highlight each track for a sec: my friend philliam - some of my closest friends in jersey just so happen to be the members of the band chemical-x. it’s a very long and complicated story as to how that ever happened, one that involves people using chemical weapons at local shows, but the point in mentioning that is their nickname for me has always been “philliam,” after adam insisted on giving me a nickname. i like to think of this song as a love letter to them and the good times we’ve had. if you’re not from jersey, make sure to catch them on their next tour. ohana - i try not to hurt people’s feelings with my lyrics, but that’s hard to do when you’re writing about a fractured group of friends from the perspective of a divorced dad. super proud of this one. driving barefoot - when we first started rehearsing again with zeke—and evan from ALIEN was sitting in one day—we covered this song and posted it on IG. guy music is definitely the best in the game of “weezer-type bands” (they run circles around us!!). henry—cohen, not our drummer—is such a talented fellow, and they were super nice, cool, and grateful we covered their song. the original is definitely better, so listen to that if you have the time. if nothing else, releasing this is just my way of infecting you guys with them LOL this single was recorded mainly at euphoria studios by our friend and engineer, harrison (@dancefl0re on IG). It was our first time recording in a real studio on a real console, which was super exciting. but last minute, on thirsty thursday, evan and i were with another collaborator from my ALIEN days and good friend—the amazing jake shearing dougherty—who is also a producer and works at WNYU. since we were booling there anyway, we laid down the vocal takes that made it on the album together, with his help and evan’s backing, and i couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out. there’s some behind-the-scenes photos up here now and on insta. thanks so much to everyone who helped make this happen <3 We’ll talk about physical soon ;)
